Iapo the omani

I was flicking through my Facebook account, when the pictures posted by Klo attracted my attention. Klo is one of my college friends, we studied Russian together.
Those picture displayed clear water, tall palms, rivers and deserts. It looked intriguing and I asked her where did she go.
« To Oman » was the reply.
I had to go there. She passed me the contact and I wrote to this Iapo guy, that I had never met before and I had no clue who he was.
Nowadays I know Iapo is a great man, very brave, that was not scared at all to win a lottery. To me he is a source of inspiration and, I must admit, good envy. I always pray to be as brave as he is and have his clarity of mind.
For me Iapo is the incarnation of the Carpe Diem motto. Seize the day. That’ what I refer to by winning the lottery.
Iapo was a student at the faculty of « Conservation of cultural heritage » of Ravenna. One day he saw in the college the call for candidatures to a French-Italian archeological mission and applied. That’s how he end up in Oman. « I got out of the airport, I saw nothing but two goats and two camels. I understood I was at home ». He saw his moment and he seized it.
His wish was to have a home in Oman. His friend Rashid (Faiz’s brother) helped him with it. So Iapo had his Arabic – style house in Ras-al- Hadd in a time where people didn’t know where Oman was. Then, little by little, more and more people asked him if he could host them as they would visit Oman. He agreed.
Casa Oman was born.
